Join us throughout the day for the annual Lambeth Local History Fair, where several local history societies gather to celebrate the rich history of the Borough through talks, walks and displays.

Working in Waterloo 1880-1930

St Andrew’s Church, Short Street, Waterloo
Through three presentations find out about businesses in the Waterloo area from the 1880s to 1930s. Recent research has been focused on the findings from a local bank’s Signature Book (1913-1924), through investigating Youngers’ Brewery Head Office on Upper Ground, to the analysis of census returns for Pearman Street 1891 to 1921 to discover what jobs people did.
The evening will open with a brief AGM.

(tbc) - A talk on Captain Bligh from Coram with Philip Cottam.
A lecture on one of our more famous residents, Captain Bligh, for ever remembered as being involved with the Mutiny on Bounty. However, he had a a wide-ranging naval career taking him from sailing with Captain James Cook and with Admiral Nelson.
